BookTubeAThon 2016 day seven.

And the BookTubeAThon is over for another year! I may not have read as many books for it this year as last year but I think I did okay.

BookTubeAThon 2016 day six.

Only one more day! I'm hoping to finish Sea of Monsters and watch the movie today. Wish me speedy reading!

BookTubeAThon 2016 day five.

I finally finished The Blessing!!! And Proposal too! There has been a little bit of a change of plan though. I realised there is no way I'm going to be able to read The Book Thief and watch the movie this weekend, so I've decided to go for the only other book on my TBR with a movie adaptation, Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters. See you tomorrow for another update.

BookTubeAThon 2016 day four.

It might be time to admit that I am probably not going to read The Book Thief this week.

I am going to finish the last 140 pages of The Blessing today if it kills me.

BookTubeAThon 2016 day two.

Spoiler alert: I read even less on day two than I did on day one. This is not going well.

BookTubeAThon 2016 day one.

It's a good thing I'm only trying to read three books this week because I didn't get to read a whole lot on day one and, since it's already lunchtime on day two and I haven't read a single page yet, I think this might be an omen for the week...

BookTubeAThon 2016 TBR.

That's right, I'm doing the BookTubeAThon again. I probably shouldn't be but I had so much fun last time that I just couldn't resist! And I am doing things a little differently this time. 1) I've decided to do it a few days in advance instead of deciding on the morning that it actually starts. And 2) I've done some doubling up so hopefully I'll be able to complete six of the seven challenges with only three books! I'll just have to live with not completing the 'read seven books' challenge this year.

For those of you who don't know, the BookTubeAThon is a week long Youtube based readathon that takes place every year. This year it will run from 18th - 24th July. You can find out more on the BookTubeAThon Youtube channel.

Baking chocolate chip cookies.

This is going to be an extremely short post today because really I just want you to watch that video up there! My friend Jess and I filmed this footage of me baking my favourite chocolate chip cookie recipe last September and I finally got around to editing it. I know, I know, but it's here now and I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do!

And make sure you stick around until the very end. I do love a post-credits scene...

December favourites.

I've never actually done one of these 'favourites' posts before but we're trying all sorts of new posts this Blogmas so today I thought I'd share a few of the things I've been digging this December!

My first favourite is this gingerbread green tea from Twinings. Gingerbread lattes are probably my favourite seasonal treat (in fact I drink them all through the year) but I've been trying to cut down on my coffee intake recently and this makes an excellent and delicious substitute! I like green tea anyway but I'm not usually so keen on flavoured tea, but the balance in this gingerbread tea is just perfect.

I finally listened to the Hamilton cast recording near the end of November, after months of watching people online talk about it all the time (has it been months or did it just feel like months?), and I have listened to little else since. It's completely amazing. I've had this and my Christmas mix on rotation for this entire month and I am loving every second of it.

Lush's winter products are a favourite every year but this year I bought Magic Wand for the first time and now I'm obsessed. Usually I can get two or three baths out of a Lush bubble bar but I think I got about six or seven baths out of my first Magic Wand (and yes I have already bought a second) and every one has had a great amount of bubbles and smelled delicious.

My next favourite is the youtube webseries Lovely Little Losers. Lovely Little Losers is a sequel to the webseries Nothing Much To Do, which I blogged about last year, this time based on Shakespeare's Love's Labour's Lost. Lovely Little Losers recently finished (I think...) and it has definitely been a favourite since it started but these last few weeks have just been the absolute best (thanks in part to my new fictional husband Costa.)

My last December favourite is really just festive fashion in general, but in particular I have been really enjoying my Christmas tree hat and bag. I've worn these basically every time I've left the house this month and I am already sad that I'll have to put them away in a couple of weeks. I'll be counting down the days until next December when I can wear them again!

What have been some of your favourites this month?

August book haul.

I bought a lot of books this month. Too many books. Far too many books for someone who is supposed to be on a book buying ban. So I thought I'd better do a haul. I had a lot of fun doing my update videos for the BookTubeAThon last month so I decided to make a little haul video.

And it was an absolute pig to colour correct so don't look forward to too many of these in the future.

The books:

Beginnings, Middles, & Ends by Nancy Kress
Nimona by Noelle Stevenson
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table by Roger Lancelyn Green
The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle
The Hound of the Baskervilles by Arthur Conan Doyle
The Return of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle
The Valley of Fear by Arthur Conan Doyle
His Last Bow & The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle

I may have realised a couple of weeks ago that the particular editions of the Sherlock Holmes books that I started collecting last year are now out of print and very expensive to buy new and I may have slightly panicked and ordered secondhand copies of all the remaining books in fear that they might become expensive soon too. I regret nothing.

BookTubeAThon 2015 wrap up!

Well the BookTubeAThon is officially over and I have to say, I'm going to miss it. This week has been so much fun and I think my little video camera has been used more over the past few days than it has since I bought it! Not to mention how surprised I am at myself for actually managing to read over 1000 pages in just six days.

I got through a few books on my TBR, including finishing a couple that I had already started; I finally read Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them and Quidditch Through the Ages, both of which have been sitting on my shelf without proper appreciation since 2001; and I thoroughly enjoyed every single book I read. So I am definitely counting this readathon a success and I am very much looking forward to the next one.

BookTubeAThon day six.

I did it! I read all seven books on my TBR and in only six days. Today is the last day of the BookTubeAThon and honestly, I'm pretty worn out for reading, so I don't think I'll be attempting any more books with my last day. Instead, I'll just spend this last day appreciating how much fun I've had. There will be a wrap up video tomorrow but before then I actually have another far more exciting post coming up later today! So keep your eyes peeled for some exciting, non BookTubeAThon stuff...

BookTubeAThon day five.

I really can't believe how well this is going. It's making me very inclined to try out more readathons in the future because I honestly can't remember the last time I read this many books in such a short space of time. Whenever it was I was probably on holiday and not making short videos every morning about how many pages I read the day before, so I think it's fair to be ever so slightly pleased with myself. Just two more days now and I only have one book left on my TBR!

BookTubeAThon day four.

Amazingly, I actually managed to complete my goal of finishing Stardust yesterday and I started reading Look Into My Eyes! I can hardly believe we're already half way through the BookTubeAThon and that I'm still on track. Honestly, I never thought I would manage to read all these books in a week but I'm hoping to finish Look Into My Eyes today and then I'll only have Man at the Helm left for days six and seven!

BookTubeAThon day three.

As predicted, I read nowhere near as much on day three as on day two, but I have completed four books now and I'm into my fifth so things aren't going too badly! My goal is to finish Stardust today but since I'm not even half way through it and I have more things to do today, we'll see how that goes!

BookTubeAThon day two.

Well I certainly managed to read a lot more on day two than I did on day one. I doubt I'll get a chance to read as much today because I've actually got other things I have to get done, but I'm at least hoping to finish The Magician's Nephew today. See you tomorrow for another update!

BookTubeAThon day one!

Okay, so I decided to do the daily updates after all. You're welcome.

I didn't get much reading done on day one unfortunately, but that's what happens when you decide to take part in a readathon while it's already happening and then spend most of the first day making your TBR video.

Anyway, here's the update video, and I'll see you tomorrow (when hopefully I will have read a few more pages than I did yesterday...)

BookTubeAThon 2015.

Two posts in as many days??? I know. Don't worry though, this one is going to be even shorter than yesterday's.

So the third annual BookTubeAThon started at midnight last night and while I was watching everyone's TBR videos over breakfast this morning I made a bit of an impulsive decision to join in! I don't know if I'll be doing daily updates or anything like that, especially since it took me about five hours just to make this minute and a half video, but here's a little TBR video for you at least.

Now I'll leave this here, if you don't mind. I've got a lot of reading to do!
